It’s been an incredible experience to renovate this new studio space and art gallery here in Creston, B.C. Canada. I’m grateful to be able to create larger works and own the walls to display my work professionally. A dream come true!
Since graduating from art school in 1986, I’ve chosen to build my practice outside formal institutions and the commercial art system, in order to support a way of working that is true to my values ,ideals and dreams.
Living and working in the remote Slocan Valley offered the space for long winters of focus, experimentation, and independent study. A feminist viewpoint has shaped not only my artwork, but the way I approach the modern cultural marketplace.
Valiant Art Gallery reflects that philosophy. It is a space rooted in independence, clarity, and continuity — a place to present work made without pressure, trends, or compromise. While the gallery exists to support my own work first, it also stands as an example of what it means to claim space, work on your own terms, and trust a self-directed artistic life.
