
“I believe that the most personal of our experiences can also be the most Universal. I allow meaning to accumulate over time in each series that I wrestle with. I like to leave things open ended and poetic for the viewer.”
”My art work begins in moments of life transition, when language is insufficient and understanding comes later. I often lead with strength and irony, only to discover the hidden truths and vulnerabilities of my life.
I document my life, using photography, painting, writing, and video journaling as parallel ways of creation. I want to capture the drama and complexity of my everyday life as it unfolds.
I compose images for their emotional impact, honesty and contrasts. I allow meaning to accumulate over time in each series that I wrestle with.

Long winters spent doing egg tempera and pigment studies in small cabins, established a foundation in drawing, value, composition and pigment. Transitioning to oil sticks revealed how fully that discipline had evolved, allowing scale, bravery, and emotional intensity to expand, without losing my grip on the canvas.
As I developed this technique, I created a process of painting that feels more like ice skating than snow-shoeing. I have more ease and confidence, when I paint. I have a lot of fun experimenting with Kama oil sticks made in Montreal.
It’s become a dance with my subconscious, where I have learned to trust my blades and not fear the dark, or the ice.
